⚖️ Balancing Rights, Safety, and Justice
These three featured articles explore how constitutional protections and human rights are tested in different arenas of American law. Balancing Safety and Rights examines the Supreme Court’s review of whether federal bans on gun ownership for drug users align with the Second Amendment, highlighting the tension between public safety and individual freedoms. Unlawful Search revisits a Texas case where a student’s Fourth Amendment rights were challenged by a school search, raising questions about privacy and reasonableness in educational settings. Finally, I Am Vanessa Guillén tells the powerful story of a young soldier whose tragic death spurred landmark legislation reforming how the military handles sexual harassment and assault, ensuring accountability and protection for service members. Together, these pieces illuminate the ongoing struggle to reconcile liberty, security, and justice in American society.
